Daddy's Little Girls

This post is to my other half, and my daughters father, Nicolas John! If it weren't for him, 1. the girls wouldn't of been born, and 2. wouldn't have had such an incredible childhood (even if they are only 1 & 3!) He is SO incredible with them, the way he comforts them, plays with them, helps getting them dressed, preparing their food, changing diapers, getting up in the night to make sure they have covers, sitting next to them in bed until they fall asleep, the list really could go on. Bottom line ladies and gentleman, he is such an amazing man and father! So here are a few things I wanted to share that he does so well, and a few things for the future!

- Loves me. He hugs me, kisses me, tells me i'm beautiful and does this in front of the girls. So that when they're older, they will want a man like their father and know that this is the man they deserve!

- He's always there. Nic is there for these girls at the drop of a hat! To this day he has yet to be away from Zoey for longer than 9 hours (that's only for work.) And if he had his way, it'd be the same with Lilly. When they fall he knows when to catch them or let them shake it off. He's on time and makes sure they know that he is their Superman, and Prince Charming :)

- Save the moments. You're only going to get one time for anything. You get one first trip to the zoo, one first pet, one first birthday etc. Take it and savor every moment of it because soon they'll go from diapers to dating and than you want to savor anymore moments :)

- A Hero. Every girl is going to grow up looking for a hero, someone to save their day and take away those damn rain clouds, well we figure it might as well be the man that won't hurt them, and Nic's the one! He may not wear red tights and a cape, but Levi's and a tshirt is a hero in our home!

- PRAY! Every night pray for your precious baby. Regularly. About her health, happiness, future...anything and everything.

- Teach her sports. If someone says they throw like a girl, at least they'll have a strong arm from their dad to back it up with :)

-Choose Sides Wisely. When the time comes that Nic and I are to differ and the girls end up doing the ole' "mom said this, dad said that" game, it is best for him to choose that side wisely and know that I can and will lay a smack down!

- Peek-A-Boo. He looks a little silly, but the smile he brings to their faces are worth looking ridiculous.

-Bath time. Enjoy it. I can't tell you how many times i've walked in to Nic playing games with the girls, or splashing and their adorable giggles. Bath time is wonder time!

-Puppies. There will come a time where the girls will ask for a puppy. Just for once, set logic aside, say yes, and watch her eyes light up! I know I will regret saying this, but I never got one when I wanted, so it's worth it for my babes :)

-Chuck Taylors. We bought them their first pairs at 10 months (Lilly) and 14 months (Zoey J). I'm pretty sure it's the only time they're going to want matching shoes with their mom.

-Dance. Dance with her in her room, in the living room, or even in the kitchen. Don't wait until her wedding day to have the first dance.

-Take her fishing. I have a feeling Lilly will hate the worm squirming, and Zoey J will love it, but fishing is good for everyone! Even if it is only once!

-Tell her she's beautiful. Every girl needs to hear this, and every girl loves to hear this! So say it day after day and multiple times a day. So when it comes time for her to find a man to settle down with, he will be the one to tell her every day that she is beautiful.

-Change a tire. Who wants to be stranded with a flat? Not I, and certiantly not my daughters! I can see Nic now with the girls teaching to change a flat and covered in oil. When the time comes and she does break down, i'm sure she'll still call him, but I know he'll still talk em through it!

-She's as smart as any boy. Make sure she knows that.

-Don't Be Late. In our house when daddy comes home it's an exciting time! Zoey J and I wait at the door and as he walks up to her slowly she says, "I'm gonna get you!" and they tickle each other and hug. One of their first/longest traditions. And for this beautiful thing, I know he won't be late to get home!

-Ages 3-6. Somewhere between this time, the girls are bound to ask Nic to marry them, although he doesn't want them with anyone else, the day will come when he lets them down, gently. (And than maybe marries me haha)

-Never Forget. The touch of a fathers hand is one of the few things in life that keeps a daughter from crying, always remember this.

Lillian

Zoey Jade
-Let her know that no matter what, she can always come home.

-Birthday's. Nic writes her a hand written letter every year and looks back on the things they did together and the new things she learned.

-When In Doubt. Trust your heart. Obviously they already do.

-Ice Cream. It can cover a mountian of sadness and sins, especially for a girl. Make sure to know her favorite flavor.

-Flowers. Every girl loves them. Don't send them on her birthday, or when she has her first day of college. Do it on the days she won't know, so in case it's a bad day, it will make it better.

-Let her drive. In 11 1/2 years when Lilly can drive, and 13 when Zoey J can, just let them drive. Don't worry about if the music is bad, or she's not wearing her shoes, just let her go and make sure she's safe and confident. That is a good teacher!

There are many more things I could think of, but Nic is so wonderful with our girls and it breaks my heart to see them grow so quickly. I hope we take the time to soak it all in and remember every minute the best we can! God has surely blessed us with the girls and one another.

Until next time!
